The Australian retail sector is expecting Aussies to spend a record AUD$23.5 billion during this year’s Boxing Day sales and the first weeks of the new year, mainly on home appliances, electronics, hospitality and clothing.
10. THE GOOD GUYS BOXING DAY SALES
The Good Guys retail stores in Australia will celebrate boxing day with their famous knockout clearance.
The Australian Retail Association (ARA) and Roy Morgan predict Victorians will hand over $6.1 billion between Boxing Day and January 15, an 8% increase on last year.

Australia’s department stores, which have long been a staple of the Boxing Day shopping season, are expected to benefit over the next few weeks as sales increase 8.9 per cent to $1.1 billion over the post-Christmas period, according to the forecasts.
Finder data predicts the average shopper will spend $375 on the “Boxing Day” sales events, with clothing, shoes and electronics key categories of focus.

4. JB HI-FI BOXING DAY SALES
JB Hi-Fi offers one of the worst Customer Service in Australia and prices used to be good.
These days, you may find the same TV, iPhone or laptop cheaper on eBay or even at Officeworks.
The National Retail Association has forecast shoppers will spend about $3 billion nationwide on Boxing Day alone.

You may want to visit your local David Jones department store before the rush of Boxing Day and grab a post-Xmas deal ready for you without the hassle of Boxing Day crowds.
Boxing Day is the last sales event on the Australian retail calendar and Aussie shopping addicts will be out seeking bargains, discounts and loyalty rewards in one last hurrah before inflation causes them to tighten their budgets.

2. APPLE BOXING DAY SALES
Apple does not officially run “Boxing Day” sales. The best will be to visit Officeworks, which tends to have cheaper Apple products than JB Hi-Fi in Australia during the “Boxing Day” shopping frenzy.
Separate data from Commonwealth Bank shows 42% of Australians plan to shop during the Boxing Day sales this year, up from 39% who said they shopped last year. The bank expects Australians to spend about AUD$3.6 billion on the 26th of December alone.
But CBA research, based on a survey of more than 1,000 Australian consumers, suggests Aussies are planning to spend less than they did last year, with the average planned to spend this year at AUD$483 down from AUD$501 in 2021.
The CBA survey found the cost of living pressures would impact people’s spending decisions, with 78% planning to purchase essentials when they were on sale and many having to dip into their savings to do it.
Clothes and shoes (47%), technology and electronics (38%) and appliances (36%) are tipped to be the most sought-after items during the Boxing Day sales, with Australians expected to fork out AUD$3.6 billion.

AliExpress offers cheap prices all across the year and they will launch a dedicated landing page with thousands of discounted products for Australian customers during Boxing Day.
But remember, what you buy cheap, may not last long and if you buy on AliExpress you are helping the Chinese dictatorship get richer.
